Your Wedding Photographer
|
|
Deciding on the photographer for your wedding day is different from selecting your wedding gown or accessories for the simple fact that you can not see the pictures until after the wedding.. There are no second chances, so you must be judicious while choosing a photographer.

INFINITY PRODUCT SEARCH
Search for the hot, best selling, unique wedding accessories by putting the keyword of your choice in our customized search box below.
- Build a list of wedding photographers by asking friends and relatives for recommendations.
- When you meet a photographer ask to see their portfolio from other weddings. Also, ask for references.
- If the photographer has a website, make time to visit the website before you meet him/her. See if the photographer has captured the joy and radiance of the occasion. You will save time by pre-qualifying photographers who have online updated portfolios.
- Call or email each photographer on your list. Ask about the availability of the photographer on your wedding day.
- Find out their specialty - whether candid, traditional, photojournalism, combination, film, or digital.
- Get an estimate from the photographer and ask what you will get for that price.
- Short list a few from your list of photographers who sound promising and arrange to meet them with your groom and any one else who will be working closely with the photographer on your wedding day (like your wedding planner).
- Some questions to ask the photographer:
- How will the final photos be presented for selection - electronic, proofs, online gallery etc.?
- Will the photographer help in choosing the photographs?
- What is the strategy he will be adapting for ordering reprints?
- What are the costs of various levels and degrees of coverage? Will they cover the reception?
- What is the photography style - photojournalistic, traditional or mixed?
- What will be the cost for reprints, albums, folios, enlargements, thank-you cards?
- What will be the time frame given for selecting and finalizing the final photos?
- How long has the photographer been in business? Where did they receive their training?
- Will there be an assistant and what will be the fees?
- Whether any guarantee is given for services and photographs?
- When you have narrowed down the list to two photographers, ask to see their work on complete coverage of a single wedding. See if the photographer has captured the personalities and characters of the wedding party and the guests. Also, do the photographs look natural?
- Decide if you want black and white, color photographs, or both.
- Remember that photographers are trained professionals and should be treated like a professional.
- Remember to pay an advance and get a signed contract with the wedding photographer.
- You should confirm that the photographer will cover the engagement party also.
- Confirm that the photographer you hire will be the one to actually shoot the pictures. This should be spelled out in the contract.
Make the commitment and relax. Get the photographer's phone number (including cell number) and make sure to confirm the location and the time at which the photographer is expected.
